Side Effects: As with any medicine, side effects are possible with ELEVOSTEO. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Q-1: What are the known side effects of Teriparatide ?

In case you experience any side effects, do not panic and please contact your doctor immediately.

Common Side Effects: Teriparatide has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In this clinical trial, the side effects were compared in patient groups in which, a group of people taking the drug with another group not taking the medicine. This way, was possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, the most common side effects of Teriparatide included, but not limited to:

  • Nausea: Up to 14 % of people 
  • Joint pain: Up to 10.1 %
  • Runny or stuffy nose: Up to 9.6 %
  • Weakness: Up to 8.7 %.
  • Nausea: Up to 8.5 %
  • Dizziness: Up to 8 %
  • Gastritis: Up to 7 %
  • Cough: Up to 6.4 %.
  • Another 2% to 6% patient included: Sore throat, constipation indigestion, diarrhea, insomnia, anxiety, vertigo, leg cramps, chest pain, sweating.

Serious Side Effects:In case you experience serious side effects like: Fainting, Depression or hypercalcemia (Increased calcium levels) please contact your doctor immediately or rush to the nearest hospital without wasting any time.

Q-2: When should I contact a Doctor or health care professional?

Contact your Doctor or health care professional if:

  • A fever, sneezing, or coughing develops after the injection is given.
  • There is a lump, swelling, or bruising where the injection was given that does not go away.
  • You have questions about how to give an injection.

Q-3: When should I seek immediate care and rush to the nearest hospital?

Seek care immediately if:

  • A rash or itching develops after the injection is given.
  • Shortness of breath develops after the injection is given.
  • The mouth, lips, or face swells after the injection is given.
